Work Experience
Anne Carlsen
In May 2016, I was given the opportunity to become a Direct Support Professional through the Anne Carlsen Center in Bismarck. I work with children that are diagnosed with Autism. I mentor these children and work on individual goals that they might have. This has been a great experience for me and I have learned so much about Special Education and children with special needs that I am able to apply into the classroom setting. Throughout my experience with Anne Carlsen I have learned that children with special needs need support, patience, and most of all someone who cares about their well being and helps them to reach their goals.
Pride Inc.
I became a youth mentor at Pride Inc. in May 2015. As a youth mentor, I was given the opportunity to work with a variety of individuals with different needs and mentored them based on their specific goals. I would often take individuals into the community and work on different socials skills and money sense. This was a great opportunity for me and I was able to develop relationships and work with a diverse group of children.
Super Kids Jr. Academy
I worked as a teacher assistant at Super Kids Jr. Academy beginning in June 2014. I worked in the three-year-old room and provided the children with guidance and different academic experiences throughout the summer and fall of 2014. Throughout my time working at Super Kids, I was able to better understand child development and used developmentally appropriate practice throughout the classroom.

Family Mentorship-Through the Family Mentorship Program, I had the opportunity to a family who has a child with a autism. I was paired with an Occupational Therapist student from the University of Mary and together we got to visit the home life of the child, take him out into public and see what life beyond the class and therapy walls were like. I also got an Occupational Therapist perspective on different issues that the child may face in his life.
